Kansas Sales Tax Rate will increase from 6.15% to 6.5% effective July 1, 2015. Check for new rates in your area and make sure you have updated to the proper rate. Kansas Tobacco Tax Rates will increase from $.79 to $1.39 per pack effective July 1, 2015.
Current tax rates for 2015 of 2.7% for lower bracket and 4.6% for upper bracket will freeze and stay the same through 2017.
Itemized deductions will be eliminated effective January 1, 2015, except the following Charitable Contributions are fully deductible. The only other itemized deductions allowed are mortgage interest and property taxes, which are deductible at a 50% rate. Single filers with income below $5,000 and married joint filers with income below $12,500 are exempt from income tax.
Guaranteed payments in pass through businesses are now taxable again.
